JOHOR BARU: Raihanah Cold Storage Sdn Bhd, Rahman Sheikh Abdullah, and Raihanah Kasim as the directors pleaded not guilty to two charges of using an unrecognized halal logo on its lorries.
They made the plea after the charges were read in front of Judge Mohd Haldar Abd Aziz at the Sessions Court today.
The first charge is under Paragraph 8(a) of the Trade Descriptions (Certification and Marketing of Halal) order 2011 and punishable under Paragraph 8(A) of the same Order for using a halal logo that was unrecognized by any authority on its lorry, an Isuzu with the registration number JTB3680.
The second charge is under Paragraph 8(a) of the Trade Descriptions (Certification and Marketing of Halal) order 2011 and punishable under Paragraph 8(B) of the same order for using a halal logo that was unrecognized by any authority on its lorry, a Mitsubishi with the registration number JRN775.
Both offenses were committed at Raihanah Cold Storage’s premise at Taman Perniagaan Setia, Johor Baru about 1 pm on Dec 1, 2020.
Both were represented by Lau Kok Guan and Noorliana Hashim.
Deputy Public Prosecutor T.Ashvinii did not offer any bail for the first offense but for the second offense, bailed was offered of RM50,000 with one surety for each of the accused.
Haldar then set bail at RM40,000 with one surety each and fixed Jan 19, 2021, for mention.
