Disney + has announced it now has 86.8 million paid subscribers at the Investor Day event this morning. This is an increase from 73 million subscriptions at the end of last September. In total Disney-owned streaming platforms namely Disney +, Hulu, and ESPN + now have 137 million paid subscribers.
With today's announcement, Disney + is close to reaching the target of 90 million customers by 2024. In fact, it is not surprising if it is achieved earlier with the sign that it will be launched in the Southeast Asian region next year. In Malaysia, for example, Astro will no longer offer Disney channels starting January 1, 2021.
Almost all services managed to record an unexpected increase. The only service that failed was Quibi which only had 45,000 customers this year before will roll out this month.
