The issue of piracy is an issue that has plagued the local and international creative and film industries for decades. Technology is growing rapidly and we have various platforms offering a variety of halal film and television series, but it seems that the issue of piracy is still rampant.

It is estimated that so far, the local creative content and film industry has suffered a loss of RM 3 billion to piracy syndicates that also use technology as a new way to distribute content illegally.

In the past we saw pirated VCDs and DVDs used as distribution media, now we can see the use of illegal media streaming boxes is used as a way to allow the public to watch content from various media companies for "free".

A number of parties such as Astro, Malaysian Film Producers Association, SENIMAN, and others say that bringing individuals and companies to justice is a good move, but more can be done.

This includes imposing heavier fines, especially since the cost of purchasing local and international content is very high, and with piracy cases still rampant, it is very difficult for the arts as well as local television networks to get a return or make a profit. of their content.
