Among the scams that occur when a device is sent to a repair, center are the use of non-genuine spare parts and stolen original components. There is a black market selling Apple's original components to extend the life of old devices that are no longer supported. According to a MacRumors report, iOS 14.4 will come with a new feature that alerts if camera components are detected as not genuine.
A warning notification "Unable to verify this iPhone has a genuine Apple camera" will be displayed on the screen to inform the system of detecting the existence of non-genuine cameras. Even if a warning is displayed, the camera can still be used. The same warning system Apple has used for screens and batteries. Apple introduced it to combat the problem of fake spare parts when the device was sent to an unofficial repair center.
