Team manager, Datuk Mohd Yusoff admitted that the squad under Tan Cheng Hoe may not gather for training after the centralised training camp scheduled for this month was cancelled. He then added, with the new M-League season starting on Feb 26 and the uncertainty over the current movement control order, it has compounded efforts to get the players together.

The centralised training was scheduled from Jan 15 to 26 but had to be called off following the MCO in six states until Jan 26. FAM are waiting FIFA's decision on the competition schedule, on whether to go ahead in March or postponed it to June.

Malaysia are scheduled to meet the United Arab Emirates in Dubai on March 25 before hosting Vietnam on March 30 in the second round matches of Group G.
